Requirements for sellers
- Age 18+ — you must be a legal adult to register as a seller
- Valid email address — used for account access and notifications
- Original content — only your own work or properly licensed material
- Agreement with the Seller Agreement — accepted during account activation
What is not allowed to sell
- Stolen or plagiarised content — copies of others' work presented as your own
- Illegal content — cracked software, pirated copies
- Malicious code — viruses, malware, exploits
- Adult or violent content — explicit material, imagery promoting cruelty or discrimination
- Fraudulent products — fake or misrepresented items
Important: Violations of the Seller Agreement may result in account suspension and forfeiture of pending balance.
Account types
When registering on shookout you choose your account type from the start:
Member
A standard buyer account. Browse and purchase products. You can upgrade to a Store account at any time by going through Verification.
Store
A seller account — register directly as a Store if you plan to sell from day one. Complete Verification to unlock payouts, Flash Sales, and instant publishing.
ℹ️ Member → Verified Store: Registered as a Member and want to start selling? Go to Store Manager → Verification, complete the application, and your account is upgraded to a Verified Store once approved.
How to get started as a seller
Register on shookout.com
Choose Store during registration to start as a seller immediately, or sign up as a Member and upgrade later.
Confirm your email
Click the confirmation link sent to your inbox. Check your Spam folder if you don't see it.
Set up your profile
Add an avatar, write your About Me, and add social links in My Account → Profile.
Add your payout method
Connect PayPal in My Account → Payment Methods so earnings can be withdrawn.
Complete Verification
Go to Store Manager → Verification and submit the 4-step application. Required to withdraw earnings, run Flash Sales, and publish products instantly.
Upload your first product
Once verified, your products go live instantly and sales can begin.
Profile setup
Your public profile is what buyers see before purchasing. A complete, professional profile builds trust and improves conversion.
- Display name — the name buyers see on all your products and your profile page. Managed in My Account → Overview → Display Name
- About Me — introduce yourself, describe your experience and specialisation. Edited in My Account → Profile → About Me
- Avatar — recommended 800×800 px, JPG/PNG/WebP, max 1 MB. Always displayed as a circle
- Cover photo — recommended 1920×480 px, up to 3 MB. Use it to showcase your work style or brand
- Social links — links to your portfolio or other platforms. Managed in My Account → Profile → Social Links
Tip: A complete profile with a clear avatar, detailed About Me, and social links significantly increases buyer confidence.
Uploading a product
Click the button in the top navigation bar — located next to your cart, messages, and notifications — to open the submission wizard. It has 5 steps:
Product Info
Product name, category, and description.
Upload & Version
Upload your files, set the version number, and specify any requirements.
Media
Add preview images and screenshots buyers see on the product page.
Pricing & Access
Choose your pricing model — Free, One-time, or Subscription — set your price, and optionally attach a Terms of Service template.
Support
Add documentation and configure your support channel.
Verified sellers publish instantly — no moderation delay.
Product licences
When submitting a product, you can attach a Terms of Service template that defines how buyers may use your files. Templates are created and managed in Store Manager → Terms of Service. You name and define each licence yourself — common types sellers use:
- Personal Licence — for personal, non-commercial use only
- Commercial Licence — permits use in commercial projects
- Extended Licence — broader use including redistribution or inclusion in products for resale

Commission and fees
The following fees apply to every completed sale:
- Platform commission — 5%: shookout's fee for hosting, distribution, and buyer support
- Payment processing (Stripe) — 2.9% + 30¢: standard Stripe fee per transaction, applied to card payments and digital wallets (Apple Pay, Google Pay)
- Currency conversion — 2.5%: applied when the buyer's currency differs from your payout currency
ℹ️ Example: On a $50 sale paid in your currency — platform fee $2.50, Stripe fee approx. $1.75 — you receive approximately $45.75. Currency conversion adds 2.5% on top if applicable.
Payouts
Earnings are credited to your balance after each sale. Seller verification is required to withdraw. Payouts are currently made via PayPal.
- Go to Store Manager → Payouts
- Review your available balance
- Click Withdraw, enter the amount, and confirm

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a fee to become a seller?
No. Registering is free. shookout charges a 5% commission only on completed sales, plus Stripe payment processing fees.
Can I sell if I am under 18?
No. You must be a legal adult (18 or older) to register as a seller.
Do I need a registered business to sell?
No. You can sell as a private individual. For higher volumes, consult a local tax advisor about your obligations.
Can I sell products created as part of a team?
Yes, provided you hold the rights to all elements. Mention co-authors in the product description.
Can I change the price after publishing?
Yes, at any time. Buyers who have already purchased retain access at the price they paid.
Can I delete a product after publishing?
Yes. Deleting stops new sales immediately. Existing buyers retain access to files they have already downloaded.
Do I need to pay tax on earnings?
Income from sales may be subject to tax in your country. shookout provides transaction reports to assist with your obligations.
