How to personalise your shookout.com profile — avatar, cover, bio, messaging settings, appearance, and profile theme

How to Open Profile Settings

All profile settings are inside My Account — the settings modal accessible from anywhere on shookout.com. Click your avatar in the top navigation bar to open it, then use the sidebar to navigate between sections.

The sidebar is organised into the following sections:

  • Overview — display name, email, password
  • Profile — avatar, cover photo, profile theme, about me, social links, custom status
  • Messaging — inbox, auto-reply, quick replies
  • Password & 2FA — password change, two-factor authentication
  • Devices — active sessions and trusted devices
  • Connected Apps — third-party app integrations
  • Privacy — visibility settings
  • My Data — data export and account history
  • Notifications — email and on-site notification preferences
  • Appearance — light / dark / auto theme
  • Language — interface language
  • Shookout Pro — subscription and premium features
  • Payment Methods — saved cards and billing info
  • Order History — past purchases
  • Gift Inventory — received gift cards

Overview — Basic Information

Open My Account → Overview to manage your core account details.

Display Name

Your display name is the name other users see next to your avatar throughout the platform — in comments, product cards, and your profile page.

  • Can contain spaces and special characters
  • Does not need to be unique — two users can have the same display name
  • Can be changed at any time via My Account → Overview → Display Name → Change

Email Address

Your primary email is used for login, password recovery, and notifications.

  • Must be unique — one email per account
  • Changing your email requires confirmation from the new address
  • Your email is never shown publicly on your profile
  • To change: My Account → Overview → Email Address → Change

Password

To change your password go to My Account → Overview → Password → Change. For two-factor authentication, see My Account → Password & 2FA.

Profile — Avatar, Cover & About Me

Open My Account → Profile to manage everything visible on your public profile page.

Avatar

Your avatar appears next to your name everywhere on the platform — comments, product cards, chat, and your profile page.

Go to My Account → Profile → Profile Photo
Click Change Avatar
Select a file, adjust the crop in the built-in editor — the result is always a circle
Click Save — your avatar updates immediately across the platform

Size

Minimum 200×200 px, recommended 800×800 px for best quality on all screens.

Formats

JPG, PNG, WebP — maximum 1 MB. GIF avatars are not supported.

Shape

Always displayed as a circle — centre your subject in the crop editor.

Default

If no avatar is uploaded, a coloured circle with your first initial is shown.

Cover Photo

The cover photo is the large banner at the top of your profile page. It is the first thing visitors see when they open your profile.

  • Recommended size: 1920×480 px
  • Formats: JPG, PNG, WebP — up to 3 MB
  • Use it to showcase your work, display your logo, or set a visual tone for your store
  • To remove: open My Account → Profile → Cover Photo → Remove

Keep your cover clean and readable. Busy or overly detailed images tend to reduce the visual impact of your profile — a single strong image or gradient works best.

Profile Theme Shookout Pro

Profile Theme is a Shookout Pro feature. It lets you upload a background image that appears below your cover photo — adding a second visual layer that carries across all tabs of your profile.

  • Creates a consistent visual identity throughout your store page
  • Managed in My Account → Profile → Profile Theme (visible only with an active Shookout Pro subscription)
  • Can be updated or removed at any time

About Me

Your About Me section appears on the About tab of your public profile. It is the main place to introduce yourself, describe your work, and build trust with potential buyers.

  • Full rich-text editor — supports text formatting, images, and embedded media
  • You can attach images by drag-and-drop or file picker (up to 48 MB per file)
  • Publicly visible on seller profiles — buyers read this before making a purchase
  • Edit via My Account → Profile → About Me → Edit

Tip: A well-written About Me significantly improves buyer trust. Include your experience, specialisations, what types of products you make, and what kind of support you offer.

Social Links

Add links to your personal website, portfolio, or other platforms — displayed on your profile page so buyers can learn more about you outside of shookout. Managed in My Account → Profile → Social Links.

Messaging Settings

Open My Account → Messaging to configure how you communicate with other users.

Direct Messages

  • Inbox — opens your private messages at /messenger
  • Compose Message — start a new direct message conversation

Auto-Reply Shookout Pro

Auto-Reply is a Shookout Pro feature. When enabled, anyone who messages you privately receives an automatic reply instantly — useful for confirming receipt, sharing basic information, or setting response time expectations.

  • Write your own message — fully customisable
  • Configure via My Account → Messaging → Auto-Reply → Configure
  • Enable or disable at any time
  • Does not reply to your own sent messages

Quick Replies Shookout Pro

Quick Replies is a Shookout Pro feature. Create a personal library of ready-made message templates and insert them with one click when replying to messages or support tickets.

  • Works in direct messages and support ticket replies
  • Manage your templates at My Account → Messaging → Quick Replies → Manage
  • Insert any saved template instantly from the editor toolbar
  • Saves time and keeps your communication consistent

Use Quick Replies for common answers — installation help, response time, review requests. Sellers with templated responses handle support 40% faster on average.

Appearance

Open My Account → Appearance to change how the platform looks for you.

Theme

  • Light — classic white background
  • Dark — easier on the eyes in low-light environments
  • Auto — follows your device's light/dark mode setting

Your theme preference is saved to your account and applies on any device where you are logged in.

Language

Open My Account → Language to change the platform language. The entire interface, email notifications, and date formats adapt automatically.

Custom Status Shookout Pro

Custom Status is a Shookout Pro feature. When active, an Away badge with your return date appears on your profile — letting other users and buyers know you are temporarily unavailable and when to expect a response.

Setting Custom Status

  1. Open My Account → Profile and scroll to the Custom Status section
  2. Select a return date — must be in the future
  3. Optionally write a short message — for example "On holiday, back Monday"
  4. Click Set Away — the badge appears on your profile immediately

Removing Custom Status

  1. Open My Account → Profile → Custom Status
  2. Click Remove — the badge disappears instantly
  3. Custom Status is also removed automatically when your return date passes — no manual action needed

Return Date

Your exact return date is shown on your profile so visitors know when you will be back.

Auto-Removal

The badge is cleared automatically after your return date — nothing to do on your end.

Custom Message

An optional note visible to everyone who visits your profile while you are away.

For Sellers

Custom Status can also be managed from Store Manager → Custom Status — same settings, just accessible from your seller panel instead.

ℹ️ Custom Status does not hide your profile, pause your store, or prevent purchases. It simply informs visitors that your response may be delayed.

Seller Verification

Seller verification confirms your identity and unlocks key features — payout withdrawals, Flash Sales, instant product publishing, and a verified badge on your profile and listings.

How to get verified

Open Store Manager → Verification
Click Start Verification and select your seller type — individual or business
Complete the 4-step wizard and submit
Personal details, store info, identity document, confirmation
Wait for review — usually 1–3 business days
You will receive an email with the result

Frequently Asked Questions

How often can I change my display name?

Your display name can be changed at any time with no restrictions. Go to My Account → Overview to update it.

Can I use the same email for multiple accounts?

No — each account requires a unique email address. One email can only be linked to one account at a time.

What happens if I remove my avatar?

A default avatar is shown — a coloured circle with the first letter of your display name. You can upload a new image at any time.

Which profile features require Shookout Pro?

Three profile features are Shookout Pro only: Profile Theme (background image below cover), Auto-Reply (automatic replies to messages), and Quick Replies (message templates). Away Status is also Pro-only. All other settings — avatar, cover, About Me, display name, appearance, language — are free. See the Shookout Pro page for details.

Where do I change the platform theme to dark mode?

Go to My Account → Appearance and select Dark, Light, or Auto (follows your device setting). The change applies immediately.

How do I change my email if I lost access to the old one?

Contact support via the Help Desk and provide identity verification. The support team can update your email after confirming your identity.
